Hillary Clinton has been positively apoplectic for days over Barack Obama’s “speech in 2002.” The speech she’s so critical of, so afraid of, is this speech below. It’s the speech in which Barack Obama, over five years ago - two weeks before Hillary Clinton sided with George Bush and voted to authorize the Iraq war - predicted that everything would go horribly wrong if we invaded Iraq. That’s why Obama opposed the Iraq war. Had Hillary read Obama’s speech then, rather than criticizing it now, perhaps we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in.
Full speech is at the link.

Not that it matters, but if Obama opposes the Iraq war, why did he vote with a big YES to the “should we extend the Iraq budget even more?” question?
I can believe he is the better choice over Hillary. I’m just afraid once he is in power there will be a rude awakening as he turns out to be a politician, not a nice guy.
People look at him as he was the Holy Grail or whatnot, idolize him and I suspect he is just the same sneakypoolitico type as the rest, only with sweeter coating.
Sure, I still hope I am mistaken. Just seen too many “nice, young, revolutionary” politicians turn out to be power hungry guys.
I don’t think there’s any way to become a successful US politician without becoming somehow infected by the establishment. It’ll take small steps, and I hope O is a step in the right direction.
At least he’s no W.
I agree with that. As I say, I am just a bit worried that people expect too much change, too much honesty, too much purity. And then they will get mightily disappointed.
And then, then they will sabotage eventhe small improvements just to get back at him.
That’s what I am worried about.
