Family values

  1. That first table needs to appear on the front page of some prominent US papers! It is about time these right wing politicians were exposed for the hypocrites that they are.

  2. On more column would be useful though: number of times they cheated on their wives.
Would make it a bit more interesting I think. :)

  3. Scientifically seen, there’s a problem with the data: the Democrats are on average 10 years younger. It may well be that the divorces happen at a later age, and that by age 63 the Democrats have just as many divorces as Republicans.

(Note that I am not making any statement about the political or ethical implications, especially in view of candidates’ rhetoric.)

  4. since the “years per marriage” in the repub graph is way above 10 years, I think you should already see the effects already, if age were a factor.

  5. The “Clinton” on the list is Hillary. I don’t think she has been accused of cheating. . . . maybe of being too faithful, though.

  6. Very funny in that the only Republican candidate not to have multiple marriages is the Mormon :-)

  7. Understand one divorce, everyone is entitled to make a mistake. But I draw the line on more than one. Expect me to vote for a person who can’t run their PRIVATE lives, to run the country? Forget it!!

  9. The ypm figure is an average. It’s meaningless and useless. Come on.

  10. all in good fun :-)

  11. I can’t see the tables. IE bombs out and Firefox shows nothing.

  12. Well,
I don’t talk about the Clinton or anyone else specifically. Just said an additional colum would be interesting.

  13. You can ask Vince Foster about that one. Oh, I forgot, he conveniently died of an alleged suicide under mysterious circumstances.

    Heiman

  14. Why isn’t ron Paul up there?

    Marriages – 1
    Divorces – 0

Not sure either of their ages.

  15. You know that a mans personal life makes no difference in his ability to run the highest office in the land, Bill Clinton proved that(and I would have more faith in hillary if she had the stones to dump her cheating man )so why should I care one whit about this…..

    Further more
    Clinton
    Obama
didn’t have the fortitude (they both abstained as well as Mc’lame) to make a decision on the amnesty plan in the Senate how can they be trusted to make the hard decision in the WH….

  16. Because RP is an idiot and an obstructionist blame America “9/11 truther, and is too stupid to even be in the same room with these fools (and that is insulting to the rest of the canidates not RP)

  17. [...] like to talk big about “family values.” This table shows that by their standards, the current crop of Democratic presidential contenders are a much [...]

  18. yes but both giuliani and gingrich have been married 3 times, I don’t think that 2 marriages were within 10 years. I do admit they should have third category of years in current marriage, I think that mccain has been married to the same person now for a significant amount of time.

  19. Ron Paul 08′. Change our fate.

  20. McCain is not likely to get the hypocrite label. His negatives seem to come from going along with failed or unpopular policies. I am a Democrat that started with a high opinion of John McCain but it has been lower each year this century. I do not doubt his heart, I doubt his judgement.

  21. I suspect when a special prosecution with unlimited funds spends millions of dollars for a decade and finds no criminal or financial impropriety that not guilty might really mean not guilty. Hillary is a party player and does not seem to me, a Democrat, to represent the US population well. I hope to see Barack beat the Republican in the general election, but will not be surprised if Democrats nominate another losing candidate. We seem to like losing candiates almost as much as the Greens.

  22. Interesting chart I must say. Gingrich and Guiliani “cheated” – not only cheated but were both cruel about it. Gingrich told his wife he wanted a divorce when she was in hospital with cancer. Guiliani flaunted his affair in public while still married and living with his last wife…..

Divorce is one thing – but how you handle your affairs and divorces speaks volumes to me.
