As the linked op-ed points out, killing someone is pretty dehumanizing in itself.
Cognitive dissonance. It has been known for ages that soldiers dehumanize the enemy or go mad.
You put a lot of young men bearing incredibly powerful weapons into a conflict and wonder that we get “regrettable” incidents? Get real Ms. Clinton.
