Boy Scouts helped child molesters cover their tracks, files show

A Los Angeles Times review of 1,600 confidential files dating from 1970 to 1991 has found that Scouting officials frequently urged admitted offenders to quietly resign — and helped many cover their tracks.

Volunteers and employees suspected of abuse were allowed to leave citing bogus reasons such as business demands, “chronic brain dysfunction” and duties at a Shakespeare festival.

    Any organization that has children in its “care” is going to be attractive to paedophiles. Much fault therefore belongs to governments, education authorities and organizational boards for not dealing with this. Years ago.

  2. Hrm… an organization based around providing moral guidance, which decries homosexuality, and now is revealed to have covered up child molestation. I swear this sounds familiar for some reason…
