Guessing time

Fascinating picture, right? Well, would it help if I told you I was in it? Or rather, at a depth of about 9 meters below the bubbles you can see?

A friend made this picture while I was diving. The question, as usual, is: where was this picture taken?

I’ll need to give you a hint this time: if my friend had taken this picture earlier, he might have become a Royalty Paparazzi.

  1. Nobody? OK, extra hint:

The picture was taken from the big rocks – the second one from the right, to be precise.

  2. Directors bay?

  3. Correct!

    [Quote]:

Director’s Bay used to belong to the Shell Oil Company until 1985 and the beach was for exclusive use of the directors, hence the name. When Shell left the island, this beach, along with all of its other property was left to the Curacao Government. When Queen Juliana of The Netherlands visited the island, Shell built a swimming pool in the sea, especially for her, so that she could swim safely and in complete privacy. The steel poles of the pool are still visible today.

  4. Indeed, the poles held an underwater fence against sharks. But there are absolutely no sharks in the vicinity of the island. So more for a sense of security than actual security. These waters are as safe as can be.
Is there still a seahorse/hippocampus in the old fencing at the bottom of the poles?

  5. I didn’t get to the bottom of the poles on this dive, we did a slow drift to the Tug Boat.
