‘Bah, this Apple Shop is full of APPLES’

Posted on February 15th, 2013 at 20:00 by John Sinteur in category: Apple

A cider shop in Norfolk has had to change its name after receiving up to 24 phone calls a week from fanbois with computer problems.

Since an Apple Store opened in Norwich, locals have been calling mistakenly phoning the Apple Shop in Wroxham Barns, with their iPhone and Apple-related woes.

Apple Shop owner Geoff Fisher told the BBC: “My telephone number has a Norwich prefix and so people unawares ring up the Apple Shop. All I can say to them is, ‘I’m very sorry, I can’t help you, but please do come along and get some proper Norfolk cider to get over your sorrows’.”

Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Posted on February 15th, 2013 at 18:14 by John Sinteur in category: News

[Quote]:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that she opposes a cut in congressional pay because it would diminish the dignity of lawmakers’ jobs.

Because when we think of Congress, the word “dignity” is really the first thing that comes to mind…

NC lawmaker: Women should ‘duct tape’ nipples to stay out of jail | The Raw Story

Posted on February 15th, 2013 at 17:29 by John Sinteur in category: batshitinsane

[Quote]:

North Carolina Republican state Rep. Tim Moore says that women can protect themselves from a new law that makes baring female breasts illegal by simply applying duct tape to their nipples.

On Wednesday, the state House Judiciary Committee C approved House Bill 34, which makes it a Class H felony to purposefully expose “private parts” for the “purpose of arousing or gratifying sexual desire.”

The bill expands the state’s definition of “private parts” to include a woman’s “nipple, or any portion of the areola.”

[..]

Although Brown’s district is 100 miles from Asheville, she felt it was important to act before women tried to assert their rights again by going topless at another rally.

Dear Republican state Rep. Rayne Brown, if it is for a rally, it is by definition not for the “purpose of arousing or gratifying sexual desire” you moron.

Couple says Christopher Dorner tied them up, gagged them

Posted on February 15th, 2013 at 12:05 by John Sinteur in category: News

[Quote]:

Asked if they expected a share of the more than $1-million reward offered in the case, the couple said they didn’t expect to receive anything.

“We heard nobody was getting that because he needed to be captured and convicted,” Karen Reynolds said.

So the $1m offer of a bounty was not made in good faith, since they never intended capture.

Also, this is an extra incentive for the cops to kill a suspect. And nobody is going to call the cops next time – why bother if the rewards are fake anyway?

A meteor shower in central Russia has caused some injuries and shattered windows, reports say.

Brightly burning rocks could be seen for hundreds of kilometres as they crashed into the Ural region.

Chelyabinsk residents reported shaking ground, windows being shattered and car alarms being set off during the shower.

The traces from falling objects could be seen in Yekaterinburg, about 200km (125 miles) south-east of Chelyabinsk, a witness told the Reuters news agency.

  2. Just loved the news shows this a.m. before work – Meteor “ATTACK!” – “Could this happen in the U.S.?”. Did not see “Did Global Warming cause the meteor attack?” but hey, it’s still early here…

  3. My favorite comment from the coverage: “People are shocked! This doesn’t happen every day!”
