  3. @porpentine: It’s a favorite joke from the ’70′s; from the second wave of feminism when shocking Ms. Greer wasn’t so easy.

  4. The marshmallow effect might, of course, have been caused by those such as Ms Greer, particularly when she was editor of the subtly-named Suck magazine. For my sins, I remember her wearing her knees as earrings. As someone said, as erotic as open-heart surgery.
