He’s apparently trying really hard to beat Rob Ford in the Canadian Goodwill Ambassador of the Year contest. Starting a war beats beating your wife any day.
Who’s offended? China or Japan? I’m not sure. Are the other countries offended by the Presidential Libraries?
Pop star does something unwise. Does this become interesting because said pop star is Canadian? Uh, Sue, I think you may be taking “daily irrelevant” a bit too literally…? Am I missing something?
@chas: China (and others) are offended by the honoring of war criminals, sure. I don’t know if people treat presidential libraries as shrines, but I take your point. It is a fascinating part of the secular belief-system that is America today.
@Desiato: A minor point, perhaps. Most silly celebs screw up by getting wasted and behaving badly (Mr. B also does this). What is interesting (to me) is that he tries so hard to be ‘sincere’ and obviously ‘nice’, but ends up offending on an international scale.
So we’re talking about the Chinese, Japanese, and Canadians and somehow the Americans get drawn into the conversation? We don’t need to be self-centered. Everyone else already centers us. Thanks, I guess.
